The practical test will last approximately 40-45 minutes. You will need to show you can drive competently and safely in all kinds of driving situations. You will also be asked to complete 1 out of 3 maneuvers (turn in the road, reverse round the corner and parallel park). The emergency stop is done, but only 1 in 3 tests will be asked and it will be in addition to the 1 manoeuvre.
You will also be required to complete two independent drive elements, these can last up to 10 minutes each. They consist of a diagram shown to you with up to 3 directions on them for you to remember, see below diagram 1:( don't worry if you can't remember as you are allowed to ask for help if you need it ).
They might also ask you to follow the signs to a certain area, diagram 2: This will assess your ability to follow signs and take up the correct lanes in plenty of time.
To pass the practical test you will have to complete the test with no serious or dangerous faults and NO MORE than 15 driving faults (minor errors).
As part of the practical test you will need to demonstrate your ability to carry-out safety and maintenance checks of your vehicle. You will be asked two questions:-
Show me / Tell me
Answering one or both of these questions incorrectly will count as one driving fault on your test. To help you prepare I have listed the questions and preferred answers (please click on below link):-
